Mimicking Mars

Now based in Syracuse, NY, Mimicking Mars is a psychedelic indie rock band known for infectious grooves, heartfelt songwriting, and high-energy live performances. Formed in 2020 by Jeremy Lanuti, James Dawson, Josh LeViseur, and Bobby Malone, the group began as a creative outlet during the pandemic and quickly grew into a tight-knit musical force.

With the addition of Robert Wilhelm on bass and Grant Harding on keys, Mimicking Mars is expanding its sound with deeper grooves, richer textures, and a more dynamic sonic range. Their releases, including the single “$4.75” and debut studio album Janky Jones & the Blackjack Blues, showcase the band’s mix of indie rock, psychedelic atmosphere, jam-inspired movement, and emotionally grounded lyrics.

2025 has marked a breakout year for the band, with performances alongside Jakob’s Castle, Kendall Street Company, Kids That Fly, Big Shrimp, and One Time Weekend, along with an appearance on Bethel Woods’ Horizon Stage. Their feature on The Grateful Dead’s official Instagram page also helped introduce Mimicking Mars to a wider audience within the jam-rock and indie music communities.
